Eryngium heterophyllum 'Marfa' is a 2026 introduction of a Patrick McMillan/Zac Hill seed collection near Marfa, Texas. In the wild, it can be found between 4,000' and 7,000' elevation, near watercourses in the region surrounding west Texas. The green basal rosette gives rise to 20" tall, naked silvery stalks, topped in September with branched, spiny flower clusters that open with a blue cast, but age quickly to silver. Strangely enough, this is a wetland species, but it also is quite drought tolerant.
