Cotinus coggygria 'Golden Spirit' PP 13,082

This hot new smoke tree first appeared in 1990 as a seedling at the Dutch Nursery of Willem Sanders. It was first released in the U.K. in 1999 and in the U.S. in 2002. The bright round golden yellow leaves, brightest in full sun, adorn the 8' tall x 6' wide shrub. In mid-summer C. 'Golden Spirit' is topped with the typical "smoky" flower panicles. As long as the soil is kept moist, you should not experience any summer leaf scorch. In fall, the bright yellow changes to a vivid coral and red. If you enjoy making cool color combinations, this plant is a dream come true.
