(syn: Symphyotrichum laeve) This aster looks like anything but an aster. The basal rosettes gives rise to near black stalks that extend during the spring and summer. As early fall approaches, the stalks are cloaked with nice size lavender flowers...one of the most admired plants in our display gardens!
