Operations Assistant Manager
Seeking an Operations Assistant Manager candidate for an immediate full-time position. Must have experience with Microsoft Office, and operations & project management. We are Plant Delights Nursery/Juniper Level Botanic Garden, a perennial plant nursery established in Raleigh in 1986, offering unique, rare, well grown, and properly named perennials to passionate gardeners around the world. We have one of the most extensive perennial trialing programs in the country. Our concern goes far beyond selling plants! Despite being best known as a nursery, we actually exist for our work as a private 28-acre botanical garden and plant research facility focusing on ex-situ plant conservation, plant exploration, breeding, and propagation. We are a family-owned company with a mission to support research, education and the exploration of plants through the sales of unique perennial plants.

Job Description
The ideal candidate will have the ability to perform the following duties effectively and efficiently:
Management responsibilities:
• Assisting and filling in for Administration Manager duties
• Customer Service and Shipping team management assistance
General operations:
• Seasonal hiring and candidate screening/interviewing
• Troubleshooting technology issues
• Backup roles in shipping, plant pulling, and nursery needs.
• Assist with marketing efforts and analytics
• Event preparation and calendar management
General office responsibilities:
• Maintain shipping and office product inventory
• Purchase and receive supplies while comparing prices of various vendors
• Responding to customer service and membership inquiries
• Sales assistance and POS management
Outside vendor contract management:
• Phone system
• Internet system
• Networking system
• Various software
• Computer hardware
• Point of sale hardware
• Various waste services
• Vending machines
• Event vendors
• Additional general business vendors
Some duties may require:
· Performing physical and dirty work in all types of weather
· Working independently or collaboratively
· Walking on uneven surfaces, bending, kneeling and carrying heavy items (up to 30 lbs.)
· Standing for long periods of time
· Assisting other departments as needed
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree preferred
• Driver’s license
• Experience in retail sales and customer service preferred
• Plant knowledge is helpful, but not required
Employee Classification: Salary Permanent Full Time
Compensation: $36,000 to $40,000 annually bases upon experience
Standard Business Hours: Monday - Friday 8 am - 5 pm + eight open nursery and garden sales weekends each year

Seasonal Nursery Production Team Member
We are Plant Delights Nursery/Juniper Level Botanic Garden, a perennial plant nursery established in Raleigh in 1988, offering unique, rare, well grown, and properly named perennials to passionate gardeners around the world. Job Description
Must be able to perform the following tasks proficiently & accurately as directed by the Production Supervisor:
- Sowing of seed and fern spores
- Vegetative cuttings
- Division of plants from pots, garden or trial beds
- Potting of liners and bare root material
- Plant fertilization with appropriate fertilizer at the correct rate
- Place potted plants in correct stock locations
- Assist with check in of incoming plants
- Operation of farm tractors and skid-steer loader
- Assist with daily production data entry
- Other duties as assigned.
Working Environment and Physical Efforts:
The primary working condition for this position is an outside plant nursery environment with exposure to outdoor elements, soils, and fertilizers, The environment is fast paced, and the employee must lift and/or move up to 50 pounds multiple times a day and stand for eight or more hours a day.

Plant Propagation Team Member

Botanical Garden IPM Technician
Seeking garden/ornamental plant field production Integrated Pest Management technician for an immediate permanent benefited full-time position.

Job Description
This position is responsible for weed control, disease control, pest management, and nutrition of the garden and field production areas. This position requires the spraying of pesticides as a regular part of the job, but this must be done by always opting for the most effective and environmentally friendly option.
Job Responsibilities:
- Implements all pest management, nutrition and plant health programs (garden and turf)
- Scout and monitor for pest, nutrition and disease issues
- Compliant equipment operation and chemical storage
- Proactive communication with supervisors to develop and implement plant health strategies, and with staff about pesticide application and re-entry periods.
Qualifications
Our ideal candidate will possess the following:
- Up to date knowledge of plant health problems and solutions
- Sound, work-related thought processes
- Passion for working outdoors and especially with plants
- Physical durability including the ability to carry 50-pound backpack sprayers in challenging weather conditions
- Ease in troubleshooting and multi-tasking with flexibility to handle changing priorities.
Job Requirements:
Significant experience in chemical applications is required.
Some formal education or experience in horticulture is preferred and applicants with the following qualifications will be strongly considered:
- Valid NC Pesticide Applicators License
- Horticulture experience or degree.

Compensation: $18.25 - $20.25/hour, based upon experience
