This recent introduction from Holland is reportedly a mutation from one of our favorite hostas, Hosta 'Night Before Christmas'. In appearance, it looks similar to "NBC", except the clump is slightly smaller and the leaf edges are a darker green. The most important difference, however, is that the solid white center does not fade all growing season. Hosta 'Christmas Candy' is amazingly sun-tolerant as long as the soil is moist. At maturity, expect a 2' wide clump of bright creamy white leaves surrounded by a dark green border...very dramatic. In midsummer, the clumps are topped with light lavender Hosta 'Fortunei'-type flowers.
