Habranthus brachyandrus is a relatively hard-to-find South American native rain lily that produces flat, glauous green foliage, similar to Habranthus robustus. When the 15" tall stalks are topped with outfacing pink flower after summer rains, it's time to grab the camera. Each flower can be up to 4" long. The contrast of the outfacing pink flower with the dramatic purple throat is truly incredible...as is seen in some of its offspring Habranthus x floryi selections (with which the Habranthus brachyandrus is often mistaken).
