From Ewald Hugin of Germany comes this 1991 introduction...a hybrid seedling (S. 'Atropurpureum' x S. 'Autumn Joy') that appeared in his garden. In 1998, it was awarded the prestigious Outstanding Perennial Award from the International Hardy Plant Union. In German, "matrone" means a "lady of well-rounded form"...alluding to the robust nature of the sedum. The succulent, grey-purple foliage adorns the 2', shiny burgundy stems that are topped in late summer with large, pale pink flower heads. Designers are clamoring for this upright sedum to use in their perennial border designs...absolutely SUPERB! Pot size: 24 fl. oz (709.77 ml)
