You've got to really have a bad plant addiction to grow biarums. These tiny, bizarre Mediterranean natives hail from dry, alkaline regions, where they emerge in fall and grow through the winter. After going dormant in early spring, they awaken to flower in early summer, then go dormant again until fall. The only good thing about having such a small flower is that it can't produce a large stench. In leaf, B. bovei resembles a tiny green hosta. Our plants haven't flowered, so we can't be sure they are actually B. bovei since biarum taxonomy is a muddled mess, but then, that's probably too much information.
