(syn: Cheilanthes sinuata) Astrolepis sinuata 'Jo Levy' is one of our favorite desert sun ferns, shared with us by orchid specialist Jo Levy of Memphis, who found this form of the Southwest US/Mexican native particularly adaptable in her humid, wet Southeast garden. Astrolepis sinuata 'Jo Levy' forms a slowly expanding, 18" wide, evergreen clump of rigidly upright black-green fronds, backed with a dense brown coat of spores (fern seed). Astrolepis sinuata hails from limestone outcrops and slopes from Texas south to South America.
