I love Asparagus asparagoides...as much for the name as the plant itself. The Latin name translates to "asparagus that looks like an asparagus." Well, duh! Yes, I know it was originally described under the genus Medola, which now accounts for the strange name...oops. In appearance, bridal vine resembles a deciduous, climbing poet's laurel. The phylloclades (fake leaves) clothe the narrow, twining green stem, making a really attractive small vine that thrives equally in sun to part shade. Asparagus asparagoides thrives too well in Australia and New Zealand, thoroughly upsetting the imported Homo sapiens, who have deemed it invasive...how's that for the pot calling the kettle black.
