(aka: Lycopodioides uncinatum) Peacock spikemoss (a prehistoric fern relative) is one of our favorite groundcovers for the woodland garden...we actually say that to all the selaginellas. The low, spreading habit of Selaginella uncinata and the semi-evergreen metallic aquamarine foliage, overlaid on a green background, are sure to make visitors stop to admire this gem. The foliage color is best after the new fluorescent blue growth emerges in late spring. We have been thrilled with its performance in winter hardiness trials in western Michigan, where many years of temperatures to -15F have proven no problem.
