(syn: Hibiscus brasiliensis, Melochia radiata) This is a little-known and very easy-to-grow member of the hibiscus family. P. brasiliensis has small green leaves, almost the size of the first joint on your little finger. The upright bush is covered with delightful silver-dollar-sized flowers of pale pink with a red eye (like a nurseryman writing a catalog) through most of the summer... completely different! P. brasiliensis is hardy to 5-10 degrees, but will reseed in the same spot in case of a really bad winter.
