Paeonia 'Cora Stubbs', from the late peony breeder William Krekler (1985), has been one of the top performers in our heat tolerance trials. For us, Cora Stubbs peony makes a 32" tall, robust clump of very sturdy stems, topped, starting in early May (NC), with huge, semi-double, fragrant flowers...a wide raspberry-pink bowl highlighted by a contrasting white bomb-type center. Paeonia 'Cora Stubbs' is a mid-season Japanese-type peony that also boasts a large number of side flower buds for even longer flowering.
