Lychnis cognata 'Sweet Orange' is a new Chinese collection of the little known, but very garden worthy perennial. Lychnis cognata hails from lightly forested and grassland mountain slopes from 1,500'-6,000' elevation in China, Russia, and Korea. This small-growing perennial produces 15" tall flowering stalks in May and June (NC) which end in terminal clusters of 2" deeply cut, brilliant, pure orange flowers. Well drained soils are the key to success.
