This new dwarf selection of the easy-to-grow US native (Maine south to Texas and west to Colorado) blue lobelia tops out at 18" tall instead of the more typical 3'. The stems are adorned with light green foliage, topped in midsummer with huge congested spikes of lilac flowers. In the wild, L. siphilitica (not to be confused with a social disease by a similar name) grows in moist meadows and stream banks, but in cultivation, it is amazingly drought tolerant.
