Some hostas become legendary by being grown in everyone's garden, while other hostas become legendary because no one can get them. Hosta 'Virginia Reel' is the latter. A streaked Hosta 'Virginia Reel' (Hosta 'Crepe Suzette' x Hosta 'Riptide') in Judy Springer's Great Falls, Virginia, garden was the star of the 1995 Hosta convention and winner of the Savory Shield Award. I next saw the stable form four years later in Roy Herold's Massachusetts garden, where it resided until Roy and Judy finally allowed it to be propagated. Hosta 'Virginia Reel' makes a delightful, small, 8" tall x 1' wide clump, composed of two-tone green leaves edged with a wide creamy border. We are honored to finally make this available.
