Hosta 'Paradise Island' is a mutation of Hosta 'Fire Island' discovered by Holland's Marco Fransen and introduced in 2008. The 1' tall x 3' wide clump is composed of rounded leaves that emerge screaming brilliant gold in spring, surrounded by a narrow green border and adorned by bright purple petioles that jut into the leaf base. Although the central leaf color fades to light green in summer, Hosta 'Paradise Island' is a fantastic selection. The clumps are topped with 2' stalks of medium lavender flowers in late spring.
