(syn: H. 'Fused Veins' - Benedict) This very distinctive collector's plant, a H. longipes (selection or hybrid) that is highly coveted in Japan, was originally discovered by Dr. Shuichi Hirao. This is the same plant that Dr. Benedict named H. 'Fused Veins', after not being able to determine the true identity. "Koryu" means "swollen variegation," which is evident when you look at the clump and notice that each narrow pointed leaf seems to be bordered with a darker green stitched edge. The small 1' wide clumper is topped in late summer with 1' tall scapes of dark lavender flowers.
