Visitors to the 1991 Hosta Convention in Raleigh were amazed at this seedling in the garden of Tony Sears of Apex (the guy with the 2-mile railroad track in his garden). While it's taken awhile to get this hosta propagated, the wait was well worth it. This giant golden hosta makes a stunning clump, to 6' wide and 2' tall. The thick, golden foliage is incredibly ruffled, making a statement from quite a distance. In summer, the clumps are topped with 3' tall scapes of near-white flowers.
