Hosta 'Bridegroom' is one of the truly unique selections in the history of hosta breeding. The late Herb Benedict's hybrid (Hosta 'Holly's Honey' x self) has green Hosta ventricosa-like leaves that fold up like a boat sail near the tip with a twist near the end. Herb named Hosta 'Bridegroom' for this leaf characteristic which reminded him of a groom on his wedding night...I'm not making this up! These bizarre leaves adorn the 15" diameter clump. The large, Hosta ventricosa-like, sterile purple flowers appear in mid-June (NC).
