This Heronswood cross of Helleborus niger x argutifolius was selected by Dan Hinkley as the plant he wanted to name to honor the memory of Heronswood Nursery. We are very pleased to be able to make it available to the public. Helleborus 'Green Heron' has very dark evergreen foliage forming a 10" tall x 18" wide deer-resistant clump, topped with upright stalks of outfacing green flowers, starting in mid-February (NC). We have counted over 100 flowers on our one-year-old clumps. This is very easy to grow in any soil with halfway decent drainage.
