Our native woodland geranium, G. maculatum, has the distinction of being able to grow in heavy and damp soil in the shade, and the selection 'Chatto' offered here is a very early, tall and pinky. This plant goes completely dormant in the winter, then surprises the gardener as it emerges with plenty of vigor early in the spring. Perfectly suited for any average garden soil that does not get too dry in summer, a nice companion plant might be Ajuga.
