This naturally-occurring hybrid between Dryopteris affinis x Dryopteris expansa makes a vigorous and easy-to-grow semi-evergreen clump for the woodland garden. The lacy light green shaggy foliage adorns the gold-scaled stipe (fern stem). Even fern guru Dr. John Mickel proclaims in "Ferns for American Gardens," "This is one of my favorite ferns for the garden." I've already got mine...how about you? Our plants were grown from spores from fern expert Wolfram Gassner of Germany.
