Finally another addition to the series of Chinese evergreen fairy bells. D. cantoniense 'Aureovariegata' makes a splendid clumper to nearly 3' in height. The strong, but delicate looking, stems are covered in glossy heart-shaped leaves. Each leaf is suffused with a chartreuse pattern in the center...showing the strongest coloration in the new spring foliage, then fading to solid green. In early summer, the clumps are topped with tiny white flowers held in the leaf axils. This is a splendid and very easy-to-grow addition to the woodland garden for use near ferns and hostas.
