This collection of Delphinium carolinianum ssp. carolinianum is from our 2003 Texas expedition. We found a small population growing in a dry sandy road bank in Bastrop Co. TX. In our garden, it forms a callirhoe-like rosette, from which the 2' tall flowers stalk emerges in May. The flower spike is topped with a panicle of stunning pure blue flowers...a central conversation piece for spring garden visitors. Good drainage is important in the garden.
