Thanks to Russell Adams for sharing this hardy, red-stemmed, hidden cone ginger. Emerging from dormancy in mid-June, the giant green leaves quickly reach 6' in height. The cone-shaped flowers are nestled about 2' off the ground in September. This is a true breakthrough, since most of the red-stem gingers have not been hardy here.
