From 11,000' elevation in China's Sichuan Province comes a new corydalis to the horticultural trade. This selection was grown from seed by France's Thierry Delabroye, who selected and named 'Chocolate Stars' for the new foliage that emerges chocolate brown and is then topped by small spikes of purple flowers. The leaf color changes to green, but this corydalis seems to be quite vigorous and has persisted well under garden conditions. In growth, it appears to be similar to C. leucanthema. We are still trialing this for our Zone 7b climate and only have a few extras plants to share for those who would like to trial it in their climate as well.
