We love Clematis fruticosa 'Mongolian Gold'! Thanks to a collecting trip to Mongolia by the University of Nebraska, we have a great addition to the world of shrubby bush clematis. Clematis fruticosa 'Mongolian Gold' forms a shrubby 18" tall x 3' wide clump of arching cinnamon stems clothed with rubbery, dark green foliage. Starting in late July (NC), the clumps are topped with 1" yellow, upside-down, bell-shaped flowers, that are followed by attractive seed heads. Full sun and a well-drained site are best. Clematis fruticosa 'Mongolian Gold' has already garnered the prestigious "Great Plants for Great Plains" award...what are you waiting for?
