Cheilanthes wrightii is a dwarf deciduous sun fern that makes its home from West Texas through Arizona. For us, C. wrightii has proven to be quite easy to grow...by sun fern standards. The very narrow, upright, dark green, deer-resistant fronds form a tight clump to 4" tall x 6" wide. In the wild, C. wrightii can be found growing on slopes of igneous (volcanic) rocks. We'd recommend a trip to your nearby volcano for some specimen rocks to make it feel more at home.
