(aka: Cheilanthes viridis A1SA-188) This winter hardy form of Pellaea viridis is a 2025 Plant Delights/JLBG introduction from our 2002 spore collection near the town of Cathcart in the Eastern Cape. It was found at 4391' elevation, growing on a dry rocky band alongside Aloe ecklonii. In the subsequent two decades, this semi-evergreen, deer-resistant fern has been outstanding in our garden, forming a tight 2' tall x 18" wide clump composed of dark green, upright fronds. This is much more winter hardy that the form that occasionally shows up in the house plant trade.
