C. brachytricha (pronounced "breaky-tryka") forms an attractive, tidy, deer-resistant, 2' tall x 2' wide clump. In September, dozens of 2' tall, refined pink plumes top this part shade lover. The pink color gives way to a bronze tone that remains through the fall. Visitors who see this in flower can't leave without one. This calamagrostis tolerates hot summers and part sun/shady conditions much better than C. acutiflora. Feather reed grass is an awesome accent plant in the garden or great for dried arrangements...one of the best but least known!
