(Boehmeria nivea var. tenacissima) This wonderful variegated selection of the Japanese boehmeria makes a dazzling foliage plant for the part sun garden. The 6' tall, branched stalks are adorned with small, fuzzy, round leaves that emerge creamy yellow-orange and become flecked with green as they mature. Boehmeria 'Kogane Mushi', which means "gold bug" in Japanese, is much slower growing than the species, but our five-year-old plant has made a 6' tall x 6' wide slowly spreading patch in good growing conditions.
