This bergenia hybrid was selected at England's Blooms of Bressingham Nursery and introduced in 1989. It originated as an open-pollinated seedling, presumably between B. purpurascens and B. cordifolia. The round, glossy green foliage turns a stunning maroon-brown during the winter. In spring, the new growth emerges green with the short spikes of rosy pink flowers...a very unique color addition to the winter garden. Moist, rich soils are preferred for best results.
