In Texas, this is one of the most common of the native baptisias, but still one of the least known in cultivation. Instead of behaving like its brothers, this unique baptisia holds it's stunning creamy white flowers in long horizontal racemes. B. leucophaea is best planted on a mound or at the top of a wall, where the flowers can be best appreciated. This collection is from a population of 20" tall plants with giant racemes in field near the intersection of Hwy 90 and Interstate 10, just west of Houston, TX.
