(syn: Deparia acrostichoides) This southeastern US native makes a wonderfully easy-to-grow, deer-resistant, 2' tall specimen with fronds that can reach 4' in length. When grown in moist conditions and rich soils, the slowly spreading rhizome will form a large patch, to 3' wide, in 5 years. The common name of silver glade fern comes from the color of the leaf underside, arising from the developing spores.
