(syn: Symphyotrichum lateriflorum) This is an exciting Dutch selection of our native aster from the garden of Herman Van Beusekom. From a dormant crown in late spring, the 3' tall rigid stems rocket upward, branching as they grow like fireworks exploding. Each stem is clothed in very tiny, black-purple leaves. In late summer, the architectural stems are tightly covered in small, white, star-shaped flowers. A. 'Lady in Black' is a great addition to borders and large floral arrangements alike!
