When I visited Louisiana in 1996, I found this old Japanese selection of cast iron plant growing in several places, particularly on the LSU campus. I was able to bring back a start and now have enough to offer. The tall evergreen leaves to 30" are highlighted with a narrow white streak in the center of each leaf... I've got a variegated fetish if you haven't noticed. Occasionally, some green leaves will occur which should be promptly removed. Cast iron plant makes a great bold-textured addition to the Southern garden... up North, here's another good house plant!
