Move over Asarum europaeum...a new star is born. This easy-to-grow heat tolerant evergreen ginger from the colder regions of Northern Japan makes one of the best groundcovers in the genus. The large 5-6" long dark green glossy leaves curl downward at the edges. The semi-running habit makes for an attractive tightly knit groundcover. Asarum ikegamii is great when planted in mass in the woodland garden.
