This rapidly offsetting voodoo lily species from West Thailand produces a truly spectacular flower..after the bulb reaches maturity (usually 3-5 years). The giant leaf is held atop a 3'+ tall green stem with grey or tan splotches. The green-speckled ice-cream-cone-like spathe is filled with a tall phallic-shaped dollop of vanilla! An EPA-approved gas mask is recommended for close viewing of the flower. According to amorphophallus guru Wilbert Hetterscheid, A. curvistylis can tolerate a very heavy soil, unlike many of the other amorphophallus species.
