Agapanthus 'Notfred' (sold as 'Silver Moon') from the UK's Notcutts Nursery is another of several white-edged Lily-of-the-Nile introductions. Unlike the others, Agapanthus 'Notfred' has so far survived outdoors for us, although through a milder than normal winter. The 6" tall clumps of narrow foliage are topped in midsummer with 18" tall spikes of medium blue-lavender flowers. In our climate, the variegation pattern on the leaves starts as a yellow edge and changes to white before finally fading to green in our summer heat. So, the question remains, who is notfred and is he related to notwaldo?
