(aka: Helleborus ABCRD01) Helleborus x iburgensis 'Penny's Pink' is a 2012 clonal lenten rose introduction from Rodney Davey and Lynda Windsor of the UK's RD Plants and named after UK plantswoman Penelope Hobhouse. Helleborus 'Penny's Pink' (Helleborus x ballardiae (niger x lividus) x Helleborus x hybridus) makes a stunning 20" wide clump of foliage that is heavily marbled silver and brightest when the new leaves emerge in spring. In March (NC), the clumps are adorned with 14" tall spikes ending in large, 3", rosy pink flowers. The petals that back the sterile flowers are dark pink on both the front and back and hold the color long after aging. Helleborus 'Penny's Pink' has been called the most exciting hellebore in years...see if you agree.
