Asarum 'Saddleback' is our first named selection of the in situ threatened and vulnerable Asarum kurosawae.Introduced in 2019, this little-known species has proven to be one of the easiest wild gingers to grow in our garden, and certainly one of the most elegant. For us, Asarum kurosawae 'Saddleback' has formed a dense 6" tall x 18" wide specimen, composed of evergreen heart-shaped leaves with an irregular green border and a green central streak with prominent silver markings between the green. In late January (NC), the dense clusters of dusty purple flowers can be found just beneath the foliage.
