Thalictrum urbaini 'Taiwan Baika' is a selection of the little-known meadow rue from 5000' elevation in mountains of Taiwan.  The 1' tall clumps of dainty green anemonella-like foliage are topped in April and May with numerous spikes, each ending in clusters of small flowers, composed of five white petals with a central cone of frothy white stamens.  As the flowers age, the petal tips take on a pink hue. Thalictrum 'Taiwan Baika' is a clonally propagated selection whose petals last longer than the typical species.  We're not sure who named the clone Taiwan Baika, but they could use some marketing help since the cultivar name translates to "human excrement from Taiwan"...let's hope something got lost in translation.
