Rosa 'Tausendschon' is a superb German hybrid that's now over 100 years old. Developed by Hermann Kiese and Johann Christoph Schmidt, and released in 1906, this scrambling multiflora-type rose is the star of our spring open house weekends, thanks to former garden curator, James Stevenson. We've been asked for a source for over twenty years, so we decided to propagate a few to share. The glossy-green disease-resistant foliage adorns the 12' tall scrambler. Starting for us in late April, the thornless stems are laden with masses of 2.5" wide, semi-double, lightly-fragrant, rosy-pink flowers...well deserving of the common name, Thousand Beauties Rose. All you need is to provide a nearby large shrub for it to meander through and you've got a spring photo moment.
