(syn: Sedum pallidum var. bithynicum) The Turkish Sedum bithynicum attracts more attention than most other plants in our rock garden. This diminutive, but easy-to-grow sedum forms small, spreading, rubbery buns of blue-grey foliage that in 3 years can spread to more than 2' wide and just 1" tall (virtually no root system, so it's easy to remove). In late summer, mats of Sedum bithynicum are topped with russet-brown flowering stems to 3" topped with tiny, white, star-shaped flowers. In winter, the blue-grey foliage takes on a russet overlay...splendid!
