I thought I'd seen amazing wild gingers...until I landed in Taiwan in 2008, and got ginger-slapped. We are thrilled to finally share our first clonally propagated Plant Delights selection of the variable Taiwanese Asarum macranthum. Our 2017 introduction Asarum macranthum 'Fishnet Stockings' is sure to turn you on when it forms a stunning 4" tall x 15" wide evergreen clump, composed of 3" wide, dark green, triangular leaves with dramatically embossed silver veins. In our hot, humid climate, Asarum macranthum has proven to be one of the easiest to grow and best performing wild ginger species. If you peek under the foliage in mid-March (NC), you'll see the clusters of amazing purple and silver patterned flowers...a special plant for a special place in the woodland garden. Since we propagate these by divisions, it may be at least five years before we have more to share.
