(aka: Agave scabra) Agave asperrima is a northern Mexican species of century plant that forms a 3' tall x 4' wide rosette of sandpapery, silvery blue, deeply-channeled leaves. In form, Agave asperrima resembles a dwarf Agave americana, although it's less tolerant of winter moisture. Mature clumps of the offsetting Agave asperrima are topped with 20' tall spikes ending in clusters of fragrant yellow flowers. Our seedling are grown from the old, winter hardy specimen at the J.C. Raulston Arboretum in Raleigh, NC.
