Mitchella repens 'Danny' is our collection from Georgetown County, SC in 2007, where it grew in a seasonally flooded lowland with Arisaema triphyllum, Spiranthes, and Zephyranthes atamasca. In the garden, Mitchella repens 'Danny' has formed a 1" tall, dense, evergreen groundcover of small, round, dark green leaves held along the flexible stem...the most vigorous form we've ever grown. Following the small white flowers in spring are bright red fruit in the fall. As you can probably guess, we named it after the red-headed, equally dense, former member of the Partridge family.
