(Thalictrum thalictroides) Anemonella 'Cameo' is a lovely selection of the native deer-resistant rue anemone and one of the fastest multiplying of the double clones...which still isn't saying much. The short clumps of typical thalictrum foliage are topped from April to June with the cutest double, light pink flowers. Plant Anemonella 'Cameo' in a special well-drained place away from larger competitors...great for the rock garden, but mark the plant's location well since rue anemone is usually dormant by late summer.

Growing Conditions:

Rue Anemone is an easy, nearly indestructible, shade garden plant that is valuable for its long early floral display. It is always well behaved, remaining a single clump that tends to get better (more stems, more flowers)with each passing year. Light shade to part sun in soil of average moisture, neither soggy or bone dry. Like many woodland natives, Rue Anemone comes into growth early in the year to make use of the sun which is available after the trees shed their leaves.

Propagation:

Rue Anemone can be started from seed. The seeds should be collected before they are shed and then sown right away. Double flowered clones do not produce seed and must be propagated by division. Rue Anemone have tiny tubers, like miniscule Dahlia tubers. An individual tuber will produce a new plant. Replant divisions, water to settle in, and keep moist until re-established.
