(aka: Epimedium baojingensis Cc030616) Epimedium baojingense was discovered in 1956, but subsequently considered extinct by Chinese botanists. Plantsman Darrell Probst, with help of a Chinese cooperator, were able to study Chinese herbarium specimens, which eventually led to a single living population in Baojing County, Hunan Province, China. We were pleased to be recipient of one of the very rare offspring in 2008, so we now can distribute them further for ex-situ conservation. The 5" long x 3" wide leaves of Epimedium baojingense can either be tripartite or solitary. The slowly expanding evergreen patches are topped, starting in late March (NC) with 10" long, arching stalks ending in light yellow spidery flowers.
